What am I aiming for?

I could easily get carried away with this and produce a full online application for editing outlines. But there are plenty of decent font editors and there is no reason to work online. The Internet does offer the ability to produce a collaboration tool, and possibly a way of producing a font through collaborative efforts (E.G. The Smaller Picture) This is very interesting, but at the same time, i think I would like to take out some of the skill-set involved with type design and replace it with something more fun where the typeface could be the side product of some other unrelated actions.

My thoughts go back to why I started this project, and my aim has been to produce something slightly obscure and unattached from the the technicalities of font production. I want to be able to interface with the type design in a more creative way than what I have recently produced. The plotting system I have in place now allows me to explore possible directions for my project.

I have been researching a few interface elements like iButton, Phidgets and PC interfaces, in the hope of finding some inspiration for a new direction. This may sound like I am letting the technology drive the process, but it doesn't bother me too much. Exploring typography is a process that feeds itself, the only reason being "to explore typography". If more cultural/social issues arise from my project I will certainly look to include and expand upon them, but it's one step at a time for now.
